Mistral raises 3 billion euros at a 21 billion euro valuation, led by Samsung
It is the largest equity raise ever done by a European tech company, and it roughly doubles the 11.7 billion euro valuation Mistral carried a year ago. The pitch is sovereign AI: open weights, its own compute, data kept in Europe.
Samsung Electronics led the round, with the EU-backed Scaleup Europe Fund (managed by EQT) and PSG Equity as co-leads, and Advent, BlackRock funds and Luxembourg joining. Mistral says it runs in 20 countries with more than 125 enterprise customers including Airbus, ASML and HSBC.
CONVOName it in interviews as the European counter-argument to the US and China frontier story, and remember the three named clients: an aerospace group, a semiconductor equipment maker and a bank, which is exactly the corporate finance client mix you are applying into.
